Blustery and cold conditions greeted the field at Harbour Town Golf Links for the final round of the 2016 Sea Pines Junior Heritage. In the ladies division, Madison Moosa (Charlotte, NC) held onto her first day lead and Kaito Onishi (Bradenton, FL) had the round of the day to both claim the Championship. Conditions were extremely tough on the 84 competitors as wind gusted up to 25 miles an hour and temperatures hovered at 45 degrees.
Moosa birdied the short par four ninth hole for the only birdie on her opening nine. Bogies on 11 and 12 allowed the field to get as close as six strokes but never any closer. Gracyn Burgess (Lexington, SC) made a charge and posted 78 over the difficult layout. Moosa held on in the tough conditions to win by seven shots.
Onishi fired the only round of even par on Sunday to win the 2016 Sea Pines Junior Heritage with a two day total of 145, one shot clear of J.J. Gresco (Scottsdale, AZ) and Doc Redmond (Raleigh, NC ) who both finished three over par. Day one leader, Shiso Go (Bluffton) was six over par on his last six holes to let the title slip out of his grasp, finishing two off the pace at four over for the tournament.
